In memory of a wonderful woman my nan known to all who knew and loved her dearly as Betty .
Died unexpectedley on 23rd March 2008 after recurrent deep vein thrombosis and hypertension.
Cause of death massive Intracerebral haemorrhage .
aged 80 years 11 months .
Lived in Twydall ,gillingham for 54 years .
Betty was born in Aldershot in 1927 later moved to strood where she spent many years growing up.
She had Two sisters Barbara and Carol and three brothers Peter , John and Billy (deceased ).
Betty worked as a book binder in strood for many years . Was a member of the A.T.S as a Lance Corporal. Whilst serving in the A.T.S she met Jack Harris .
They were married on 21st July 1951 and went on to have two children , a son David and a daughter Sheila .
Betty became a grandmother in 1978 when Michelle was born to her daughter sheila , then came Amanda and Katrina . Then a became a great grand mother to my daughter Shannon in 2001 .
My nan was a remarkable woman she touched the lives of everyone who knew her . She always tried to see the good in everyone , didnt like to speak bad of anyone , that was just nans nature .
One thing I loved bout nan is her old fashioned ways ,she really believed the old ways were the best !Nan loved the royals as she shared the same birthday as the queen .
She was also a very valued volenteer of the Chatham branch of the RNA .This was a big part of her life for many years ,both her and Grandad attended many marches and do's over the years .One of the events she looked forward to every year was their annual Trafalgar dinner and dance . She would dress in beautiful outfit and always wore one of her much loved broaches and the pearls grandad bought her . Nan always enjoyed hosting their stalls at other events such as navy days , she loved meeting the people and chatting .
The person she loved most in the world was Grandad , she loved him as much after 56 years of marriage as the day they met .
She idolised all of her children and grandchildren and especially her great grandaughter Shannon .
For your 80th birthday the family arranged a surprise party for you at the King Charles Hotel .You were overwhelmed by the attendance of at least 4 generations of your family and good friends . The smile on your face was priceless . You had such a wonderful time and always spoke of it since .
You meant the world to all of us you were one in a million . We all have our own very fond memories of you which we treasure.
Its been 3 months now since that very sad day and you are being missed more than words can say .
You are now our brightest star in the sky and we know you will always be watching over us all .

I cant believe its been two years already Nan sometimes it feels like only yesterday when I was told you had slipped away!!
We all miss you very much .Grandad especially ....he has coped so well the last 2 years without you by his side .His heart is broken without you though :(
I like to think you have been watching over him and keeping him safe and you know how much he loves you .Today is a very sad day for him ....the day he not only lost his beloved wife but his soulmate ......watch over him today .
we all love and miss you terribly its just not the same without nan !

one year on !!
I cant believe a whole year has past already , your absence has been felt greatly by all of us , especially grandad and mum !
We miss you so much , it still feels strange knowing that we wont ever see you again .
so much has happened for me in the last year , and I know that u helped see me through that , and I thank u from the bottom of my heart .

Grandad is the very proud great grandad but so sad that you can not be with us to share the joy ....oh I so wish that you could see her .

hi nan , just popped by to say hi , been thinking of you alot lately .Mum has been finding it pretty hard without you last few months think its actually hit her properly now that you are gone , she gets very emotional still but we r all looking out for her . She in return has been looking after grandad for you , he is doing ok , misses you terribly of course but we have all tried to help him through and he gets ease at knowing that you are watching over him everyday , he talks to you everyday , has your picture pride of place by his chair so you look down on him, and he has placed your ashes in your cabinet , he cleared it all just for you !!
Grandad has been in and had his eye op , he is doing well we are so pleased he has finally had it done .He has to take it easy though as he is still getting to grips with the diabetes thing ,think he is gettin used to it now which is good .
Mum and grandad have been gettin ready for trafalger dinner , being the first one without you by their sides is going to be very hard for them both mum feels awful that she will be in your place at the dinner , but I have told her that is how you would want it , and besides I know that you will be right by their sides proud of them for getting this far .
Hope you taking good care of my gracie up there I know you will be , holding you close in my heart and asking you to please look out for me the next few months I really need you to , its so hard for me . loving you as always , forever xxxxxxx
hey nan its me again , just to let you know grandad missing you so much but he is pleased as he has you back at home right by him in the living room x
please look out for him as he has not too well the doctor just diagnosed him with diabetes so we really got look after him now but you know how stubborn he can be , he is really doing his best without you but I know its so very hard for him living without you by his side , he just loves you more than you will ever know !!!
